Responsibilities
Tasks include:
· Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements
· Prepare layouts in conformance with building codes using measuring tools
· Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood, substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials
· Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, erect walls and roof systems
· Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware
· Schedule and coordinate site work
· Instruct apprentices and supervise 1–2 workers
· Estimate costs and materials
· Maintain, repair, and renovate wooden structures in residences, mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments
· Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications
